PM-USHA:
Subsequent to the alignment of the new phase of RUSA with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, the third phase of RUSA has been launched as the scheme of Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) in June 2023 by the Ministry of Education (HE), Govt. of India to be implemented till 31st March, 2026 with total outlay of Rs. 12926.10 crore for supporting States/UTs to improve the access, equity and quality in their higher education system. It aims to cater to the five pillars of the NEP 2020, viz. accessibility, quality, equity, accountability, and affordability along with skill-based/vocational education, employability, courses in emerging areas, industry-academia linkage, accreditation of un-accredited institutions, choice-based credit system, academic reforms, ODL & ICT usage, barrier-free education and increasing GER. Under the PM-USHA priority would be given to the “Focus Districts”
All eligible Govt. Colleges in the State (22 Nos.) submitted proposal for funding under the Component: Grants to Strengthen Colleges (GSC) and all Districts in Mizoram(11 Nos.) submitted proposal for funding under the Component : Gender Inclusion and Equity Initiatives(GI&EI) to the Ministry of Education (HE) through PM-USHA portal.
The 2nd Project Approval Board Meeting (PAB) of PM-USHA held on 2nd February, 2024 through virtual conference approved the following Colleges and District in Mizoram for funding under two components:-
A) Grants to Strengthen Colleges (GSC):
1) Govt. Kolasib College (Rs. 5 crore)
2) Govt. Champhai College (Rs. 5 crore)
B) Gender Inclusion and Equity Initiatives (GI&EI):
1) Mamit Districts (Rs. 10 crore)
